In my quest to find places to connect with readers, I’ve been looking into new places to advertise Madness and Wonder. One of them is a site called fetlife, according to them it’s like Facebook for Kinky adults. Madness and Wonder has light bondage, sex between a shifter Fey-born and a high fey Fey-born, a monster with tentacles, and a good amount of explicit sex. Sounds like a book for the kinky (or kinky curious) right? Some of the fettishes represented are way past what I write (or knew about before), and make me feel pretty “vanilla” (a term used on the site for the kink-less), but I’m sure there’s a range of what people are in to & I’m thinking my writing might be just what someone on fetlife is looking for (hopefully lots of someone’s). I don’t see other books advertised, so either it’s an untapped market or people on the site don’t buy many books. I’m hoping for the first.
So, my next thought is the adds I’ve done for mainstream places like Facebook and Amazon probably wouldn’t get any attention on a fettish site. I usually have to make my adds more politically correct, in case someone underage is looking, but here the sex needs to be obvious instead. So, like I did around the book launch, I decided to pull out another artistic skill (aside from writing) and do some sketches for add ideas. Once I have an add put together for their specifications I’ll contact them & see if there might be a third option of ‘they don’t do book adds’. I want to finish the add concept before I contact fetlife, so even if I don’t end up advertising with them I’ll have an starting point when I find another adult site to advertise on.
If you are interested in a couple images pulled from Madness and Wonder‘s first scene (yep, where Rosie plays a sexy fem March Hare in wonderland with Hatter), they are in the adult bonus content section. I’m pretty happy with the drawings, so I hope my readers will enjoy them too. Kinda tame images for fetlife, but still containing a nude woman and the suggestion of a sexual act, so they must be past the over 18 barrier here.
When I’m done designing the add (wether I end up advertising on fetlife or not) I’ll add it to the same page so you can see the art in a state past line art. Though, as they are, the drawings make great adult coloring pages (just don’t let the kiddies see), I’ve colored one twice before I finalized the design :).
